Mobile sleep diagnostics at the IUNE Medical Center Mallorca
When sleep is not restful: How mobile polysomnography provides clarity
Sleep problems such as restless sleep, frequent waking or breathing interruptions affect health, mood and performance. At the IUNE Medical Center, we offer mobile sleep diagnostics with polysomnography - you can sleep at home or in a familiar environment while we monitor many parameters to uncover causes and provide targeted treatment.
What is polysomnography (PSG)?
Polysomnography (PSG) is a sleep measurement method in which several physiological signals are recorded during sleep. These include:
- brain waves (EEG) → determination of sleep stages (awake, light sleep, deep sleep, REM)
- eye movements (EOG)
- muscle tension (EMG), e.g. in the legs in the legs
- respiratory flow and breathing movements of the chest and abdomen
- oxygen saturation in the blood (pulse oximetry)
- heart rate and ECG
- body position and often also snoring noises or leg movements
These parameters allow a comprehensive analysis of sleep architecture, breathing disorders and movement patterns during sleep.
Typical indications for which mobile sleep diagnostics is useful
You should consider a mobile PSG if you have one or more of the following symptoms:
- Problems falling asleep or frequent waking
- Loud snoring with observed pauses in breathing
- Daytime sleepiness despite sufficient sleep
- Concentration problems, irritability or reduced performance
- Suspected sleep apnoea or sleep-related breathing disorders
- Movement disorders during sleep (e.g. restless legs, periodic leg movements) - Unclear sleep disorders where other methods (e.g. questionnaires) do not provide a clear diagnosis. (e.g. restless legs, periodic leg movements)
- Unclear sleep disorders for which other methods (e.g. questionnaires) do not provide a clear diagnosis
How we carry out mobile sleep diagnostics at IUNE
1. preparation & medical assessment
Before the measurement, our medical team will take a detailed medical history and carry out an assessment.
2. measurement in familiar surroundings
You sleep in your familiar surroundings while we attach the necessary sensors. This reduces stress and external influences.
3. Recording & evaluation
The measured data is evaluated by sleep physicians after the night: sleep stages, breathing interruptions, oxygen saturation, heart rate, movements during sleep, etc.
4. Report & therapy recommendation
Based on the PSG data, we create a report with a clear diagnosis and tailored recommendation - e.g. changes in sleep hygiene, CPAP therapy, behavioral tips, supplements such as VNS analysis or other regeneration measures.
Their advantages and effect
- More certainty in diagnosis: instead of guesswork and uncertainty, there is reliable data.
- Treatment that works: you can see how often and to what extent breathing stops, movements or oxygen drops occur.
- Improved quality of life: less fatigue, better recovery, more clarity and performance in everyday life.
Note on the application
Mobile sleep diagnostics are only carried out at IUNE after a medical examination and individual recommendation.
